Description
Nant Gwrtheyrn near the village of Llithfaen is one of the most spectacular spots on the northern coast of the Llyn Peninsula, a steep sided valley plunging down to the sea is the famous Welsh language centre. It is sometimes referred to as the Nant.
In the 1850s the area was transformed by the opening of three granite quarries Chwarel y Nant, Chwarel Cae'r Nant, Chwarel Carreg y Llam, Quarrying activity decreased during the 1930s and the cottages fell into disrepair. Since then it was acquired and modernised by a local trust set up to establish a Welsh language centre
